Signing in to your account

Overview

Signing in to GS Poetry takes the email and password you used when you created your account. If you turned on two-factor authentication, you’ll add one short code to finish. This guide walks through a normal sign-in and the handful of things that can trip you up along the way.

Sign in with your email and password

Head to the Sign In page, type the email address you signed up with, enter your password, and click Sign In. That’s the whole flow for most people. A couple of small helpers on that screen:

• Use the eye icon in the password box to reveal what you’ve typed if you want to double-check it before submitting.
• Forgot password? sits right under the fields, so you can start a reset without leaving the page.

Signing in with a social account

If you first joined using a social account (like Google) with the one-tap option, keep using that same button to sign back in — you won’t have a separate GS Poetry password to type. Pick the provider you started with and it signs you straight in.

If you use two-factor authentication

Accounts with two-factor authentication turned on get one extra step after the password: a two-step verification screen asking for a short code. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app — or, if you set those up, a code we text or email you — and click Verify. Choose Use a different method to switch between them, or fall back to one of your single-use backup codes. Setting this up for the first time is covered in Setting up two-factor authentication.

If you can’t get in

• Forgot your password — click Forgot password? on the sign-in page, enter your email, and use the emailed link to set a new one. Full steps: Resetting your password.
• “Invalid email or password” — for your security we show the same neutral message whether the email isn’t registered or the password was wrong, so no one can probe the form for accounts. Check for typos, the right email, and Caps Lock, then try again — or reset your password if you’re unsure of it.
• Your two-factor code didn’t arrive or won’t work — give a texted or emailed code a moment, check spam for an emailed one, and make sure your authenticator app’s time is in sync. If your app and backup codes are both gone, follow Lost access to your two-factor authentication rather than guessing.
• You’re locked out after several tries — after 5 failed sign-ins GS Poetry locks the account for 30 minutes, then unlocks on its own; retrying sooner won’t help. See Why your account locked after failed sign-ins.
• You just changed your email — sign in with the new address once it’s verified. Walkthrough: Changing your email.
