Change your email
Update the email you sign in with from Settings, then confirm it with the code we send to your new address.

Overview
Your email address is how you sign in and how we reach you about your account, so keeping it current matters. You can change it yourself in a minute or two from Settings → Account — we send a code to the new address to confirm it’s really yours before the switch takes effect.
Change your email
- Open Settings → Account and go to the Manage Account tab. Your current address shows in the Current: pill.
- Type your new email address and click Update. Because this is a sensitive change, you may first be asked to confirm it’s you — enter your password (or another verification) when the prompt appears.
- We email a verification code to the new address. Open that inbox, copy the code, enter it back on the settings page, and click Verify & Update.
- Done — the new address is now your sign-in email, and the Current: pill updates to match.
For your security, we also send a heads-up to your old address letting you know the email was changed, so you’d notice right away if it wasn’t you who did it.
Confirming the new address with a code — and re-checking it’s really you before the change — is what stops someone with a borrowed session from quietly pointing your account at their own inbox. It’s a small step that keeps control of your account with you.
If something goes wrong
- The verification code didn’t arrive — check the spam folder of the new address and confirm you typed it correctly. Click Cancel and start again to send a fresh code.
- “That’s already your email address” — the address you entered matches the one you’re already on. Enter the new address you actually want to switch to.
- I’m asked to verify my identity first — that’s expected for a sensitive change. Enter your password (or a backup code) to continue. If you signed up with a social account and don’t have a password yet, set one under Settings → Account first.
- I can’t sign in to change it because I’ve forgotten my password — reset it first, then change your email. See Reset your password.
- I’ve lost access to my old email entirely — as long as you can still sign in, you don’t need the old inbox to make the change. If you’re also locked out, see Why your account locked after failed sign-ins.
