Why GS Poetry asks you to confirm your email, how to enter the code, and what to do if it never shows up.

Overview
Right after you create your account, GS Poetry asks you to confirm your email address. It’s a quick one-time step that keeps the community secure and makes sure we can reach you about your account. Until it’s done, some things stay locked — so it’s worth finishing before you start writing.
Why verification is required
Confirming your email proves the address is really yours and helps keep spam and impersonators out. Because of that, you need a verified email before you can publish poems, leave comments, or follow other poets. You can look around in the meantime, but those actions wait until your address is confirmed.
How to verify
When you sign up, we email you a 6-digit verification code. On the Verify Your Email screen, type that code into the box and click Verify Email. Once it’s accepted, you’ll see a confirmation that your account is ready and you can sign in and start posting.
If you need a new code
Codes are only good for a short while. If yours expired or you never saw it, use the Resend code button on the same screen — there’s a brief countdown before it’s ready, then a fresh code lands in your inbox. Enter the newest one; older codes stop working once a new one is sent.
If the email never arrives
- Check your spam or junk folder — automated verification emails sometimes land there. While you’re at it, search your inbox for a message from GS Poetry.
- Give it a minute, then Resend — delivery is usually quick but can lag. Wait for the countdown to finish and request a fresh code rather than entering an old one.
- Make sure the address is right — a small typo in your email at sign-up means the code went somewhere you can’t reach. If your email is wrong, see Changing your email to correct it.
- Add us to your contacts — if your mail provider filters us out, allow-listing our address helps the next email (and future notifications) reach you.
