Voice Readings with SoulCast

Record your poem in your own voice and attach it to the poem page so readers can hear it — a GS Pro feature.

Yes, but only with a GS Pro membership. Open the composer, scroll to the SoulCast Studio panel, click Start Recording, read your poem out loud, click Stop Recording, listen back, and choose Use this recording to attach it. The reading rides along when you publish, save as draft, or schedule. Full walkthrough: Recording a voice reading with SoulCast Studio →
No — listening is never paywalled. Anyone visiting your poem page, signed in or not, free or Pro, can press play on the slim SoulCast player at the top of the poem and hear the recording. SoulCast is gated behind GS Pro only on the recording side. More on what listeners see →
Not in this version. SoulCast records in-browser only — there's no file upload field. If you want to keep a take you recorded in SoulCast, click Download MP3 on the review screen to save a copy to your device before attaching. More on the recording flow →
Open the poem, click Edit, scroll to SoulCast Studio, and click Remove on the attached row — that permanently deletes the old take from storage. Then click Start Recording and record the new one. One reading per poem is supported, so you have to remove the old before recording the next. More on add and replace →
Not in this version — one reading per poem. If you want a second take, remove the first one and record again.
Each take must come in under 15 MB, which is typically 15–20 minutes of speech at MP3 quality — comfortably long for the vast majority of poems. If you go over, record a shorter version, or split a very long piece across multiple poems. More on what you'll need →
SoulCast is a GS Pro feature, so confirm your subscription is active under Settings → Membership. If yours just lapsed, recordings you've already attached keep playing on your poems — the record button just doesn't come back until you resubscribe. If you see a green SoulCast Studio teaser card with an Upgrade button, that's the free-tier state. More troubleshooting →
Open your browser's site permissions for GS Poetry (usually a padlock icon in the address bar), switch microphone access back on, then reload the page and click Start Recording again. Your browser will re-prompt the first time and you can choose Allow. More troubleshooting →
The take captured silence end-to-end — usually because the wrong microphone was selected at the operating-system level, or because the mic was muted. Check your system audio settings, pick the right input, and record again. SoulCast shows this warning instead of letting you save a silent take. More troubleshooting →
If the network drops between save and audio upload, you'll see a yellow toast telling you the poem published but the clip didn't make it. Open the poem from My Poems, click Edit, and record again in the SoulCast Studio panel — this time it attaches directly. More troubleshooting →
They keep playing on your poems exactly as before — listeners notice no change. You just won't see the SoulCast Studio record button in the composer until you resubscribe.
