Overview
Every published poem on GS Poetry has a Ratings & Feedback panel that lets readers privately tell a poet what they thought — a 1-to-5-star rating and, if they like, a short written note. It is built to be honest and kind at once: ratings are never public, and the poet never learns who left what. This article covers how rating works, what the poet sees, and what GS Pro adds on top.
How to rate a poem
Open any poem that isn’t your own and find the Ratings & Feedback card. Sign in, then click from one to five stars — that’s the whole rating. Rating is free for everyone: there’s nothing to unlock and no membership required. You can adjust your choice for a brief moment right after you pick it; once it locks in, your star rating is final.
Want to say more? Click Leave private feedback for the poet, type a note, and send it. The note goes straight to the poet, and once sent it’s permanent — so write it as the finished thought you want them to read.
You always stay anonymous. The poet sees your stars and your written note, but never your name, username, or any hint of who you are. Ratings are private to the poet — there are no public scores, no leaderboards, and nothing about your rating ever appears on the poem for other readers.
What the poet sees
On each of their own poems, the poet gets a Ratings & Feedback card of their own showing that poem’s average score, its number of ratings, and the full list of star values alongside any written notes readers left — all stripped of identity. This is the heart of the feature, and it is free for every poet, on every tier. It is never paywalled.
What GS Pro adds
GS Pro does not unlock the ratings or the feedback themselves — those are always free. What it adds is the cross-poem analytics layer on the stats dashboard: a rating distribution histogram, which poems outperform your baseline, and your percentile and rank versus other poets. It’s the insight-and-growth view on top of the feedback, not access to the feedback.
