What category strength is

Your category strength is a small badge on your profile that highlights the kind of poetry you write most. It names a single category — the one the largest share of your poems belong to — alongside the percentage of your poems that fall under it (for example, “Love · 42%”).

It’s meant to give you and anyone visiting your profile a quick, honest read on where your writing leans. There’s nothing to set up or turn on — it’s worked out automatically from the poems you publish.

Where you’ll see it

The badge sits in the details area of your profile, alongside facts like the category you write in. Everyone who views your profile sees the same badge — it isn’t private.

How it’s calculated

A few simple rules decide your category strength:

  • Only your main category counts. When you post a poem you can give it a primary category plus optional sub-categories. Only the primary (main) category counts toward your strength — sub-categories are ignored.
  • Only poems others can see are counted. Public and Followers Only poems count. Drafts and Private poems never do.
  • The most-used category wins. Whichever main category covers the most of your counted poems becomes your strength, and the percentage shows how big that share is.
  • Ties go to the freshest work. If two categories are tied, the one holding your most recently published poem wins.

When it appears

Your category strength stays hidden until you have at least 10 counted poems (Public or Followers Only). Below that, there isn’t enough writing to point to a clear strength, so no badge shows — this keeps the label from flip-flopping off a handful of poems. Once you cross 10, it appears on its own.

Note

Because drafts and Private poems don’t count, your category strength reflects only the work your readers can actually see. If you keep a lot of poems private, your badge is based on the public-facing slice of your writing — and you may need more than 10 poems total before it appears.

How it stays current

The badge refreshes by itself whenever you publish a new poem, change a poem’s visibility, or delete one, so it always reflects your current body of work. You never have to update it manually.
