Overview

Photos on GS Poetry live inside albums. You upload images, group them into albums you name and control, view any photo full-screen, and — if you want — share a photo to your stream for your followers to see. This guide covers uploading, organizing, viewing, sharing, and what happens to every image behind the scenes.

Uploading photos

Head to your Photos & Albums page. Every photo belongs to an album, so your first upload happens when you create an album — you pick a name, an optional description, and an audience, then choose an initial photo. After that, open the album and add as many more photos as you like.

  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, and WebP.
  • Size limit: up to 20 MB per image.
  • Captions: each photo can carry an optional caption you can edit any time.

Automatic optimizing

When a photo lands, we process it for you: images are optimized automatically so they load quickly, and location and camera metadata (EXIF/GPS) is stripped so a phone photo never quietly reveals where it was taken.

Creating and organizing albums

Albums keep your photos tidy. When you create one, you set its audience: Public, Followers only, or Only me. You can rename an album, edit its description, change its audience, or delete it — and deleting an album removes the photos inside it.

A few albums are created for you and managed by the app — Profile Photos, Cover Photos, and Stream Photos. These system albums are always public and can't be renamed or deleted.

Viewing photos in the lightbox

Click any photo to open it full-screen. From the lightbox you can read the caption, like the photo, leave comments and replies, and share it by copying its link. If it's your own photo, the menu also lets you edit the caption, set it as the album cover, set it as your profile photo, or delete it.

Sharing a photo to your stream

From the stream you can attach photos to a post so they appear in your followers' streams. Photos you share publicly this way are collected in your Stream Photos album automatically, so they stay organized alongside the rest of your media.

Images are content-moderated

Every image you upload is automatically checked for unsafe content before it becomes visible. If an image doesn't pass that safety check, the upload is rejected and nothing is stored. This keeps the community safe for everyone and applies to photos, covers, and stream images alike.

Where to go next

For how visibility and sensitive material are handled, see Privacy & Safety. If a photo isn't behaving the way you expect, contact support and we'll take a look.
