Hey Young Man

by Jj

I write this letter hoping
Someday you will be comfortable
Inside your own skin
I watch you sometimes
Silently observing
Your mannerisms & quite skepticism
Of worldly impressions, and perceptions
Lead to cynical observation
I see you swallow your self esteem
To ostracize someone else's
Pipe dreams
Thinking along the conservative
When I only want you
To be the proud
Beautiful human being
I know you to be
THe individual I see
Behind brilliant eyes of brown
An uncanny presence, cunning ingenuity
Through you I see glimpses of me
My second born son
Who has dealt with the comparison's
Living under older brother's shadow
Viewed as less manly, deemed unworthy
Whom others are quick to label feminine
What they fail to see, is that I
Find you beautiful, just the way you are

I had to favor this, which exposed the power of your pen and love for your children. I enjoyed the lyrical content as well as it's touching and endearing meaning. Great writing once more queen...

Beautiful poem. More parents should show their kids love.
